Job Summary/Basic Function:

Responsibilities include media preparation for the laboratory and preforming experiments under the supervision of a senior scientist. Experiments will involve a combination of yeast molecular genetics approaches, live cell imaging, and protein purification.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS degree in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry or 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.

Good communication and problem solving skills, and a willingness to learn are essential. Must be willing and able to work independently once trained. Should be familiar with lab techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS/BA. Minimum GPA of 3.2. Some experience with molecular biology and microbiology (e.g. yeast or bacteria) techniques.

Work Hours:

Typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.

This position duration will be for 1 year. However, there may be opportunity for extension based on budget and performance.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, use manual dexterity, talk or hear; Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or rodent dander. May work with toxic, caustic chemicals, radioactive materials, liquid nitrogen, human tissue or blood. Potential risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to cold 4C, and/or extreme cold -80C from freezers. Noise level is usually moderate.
