Sample Control Technician

SUMMARY:   Under minimal supervision, performs tasks requiring independent judgment and organizational skills. Primarily responsible for maintaining secure and well-organized study sample storage at WCT. Can perform both routine and non-routine tasks accurately and efficiently. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible to the Laboratory Supervisor for the storage and retrieval of study samples at WCT
  • Maintain an inventory of samples for easy retrieval. Maintain the study sample log books
  • Keep sample storage freezers organized and clean
  • Log-in study samples and/or supervise the log-in process
  • Oversee the removal and return of study samples from WCT’s freezers during samples analysis.
  • Ensure that study samples are archived, returned to the sponsor and/or disposed of when appropriate
  • Document the transfers, as required
  • Must be able to work well with a variety of scientist/technicians.
  • Must be able to understand written instructions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with the operations of all corporate divisions and GLP requirements; normally acquired after three months of on-the-job exposure to WCT operations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and direct others
  • Ability to follow established WCT’s policies and GLP regulations
  • Familiarity with WCT's safety procedures
  • Ability to interact effectively with superiors, peers and other employees

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a GLP analytical laboratory to include a basic knowledge of various analytical methods and FDA requirements preferred

 

Promotion to the next level is not automatic based on years of experience. Personnel are evaluated on proven competency, level of responsibility, and ability to work independently.
