Fort Pulaski National Monument (FOPU) was established by Presidential Proclamation No. 1713 (43 Stat. 1968) on October 15, 1924, and was later transferred to the Department of the Interior as part of the national park system in 1933. The national monument, which sits between Savannah and Tybee Island on the Georgia coast, encompasses 5,623 acres on Cockspur and McQueen's Islands.
