Intern, Medical Writing Associate

Overview

 

The Medical Writing Associate Intern will be responsible for providing support to Medical Writing in various capacities to ensure the highest quality documents are produced.  The primary focus will be on citation management, which will include review and cleaning citation software libraries, writing instructions for citation software best practices, training of citation software and participating in and providing input to team implementing the company citation software.  Other duties may be assigned which may include document quality review (eg, formatting and electronic document consistency) and archiving of medical writing documents according to quality standards and defined timelines.

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Review current citation software libraries to remove duplication and insert missing information.

  • Source journal articles as needed and requested by the medical writing team.

  • Write and finalize internal best practices and instructions pertaining to use of citation software.

  • Participate in and provide input to cross-functional team exploring new citation software and implementation of the chosen citation software.

  • May perform basic electronic publishing quality checks of hyperlinks and bookmarks for medical writing documents to ensure they meet Alnylam submission-ready guidelines

  • May participate in the testing, development, and implementation, of medical writing systems and software (eg, citation databases, document review software, concatenation software)

  • Participate in Medical Writing team meetings.

    • Present best practices and training instructions at the end of eight weeks

  • Participate in weekly 1:1 meetings with Medical Writing mentor

Qualifications:

  • Library Sciences major or equivalent experience

  • Experience working with citation software.  EndNote citation software is a plus

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows and MS Word.  Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat a plus.

  • Experience with document QC and electronic publishing is a plus

  • Confidence and ability to learn new software tools is essential

  • Must be flexible, detail-oriented, and possess good analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment

  • Able to work in a team environment as well as independently
