Associate Analyst

Do you have a B.S. degree in Microbiology or a similar field? Do you want to do "hands on" product testing at a small sized, fast paced, family owned commercial laboratory with a professional work environment? If so, this position may be for you.

About the Position:
This is a bench microbiology position with some basic chemistry and physical analysis duties. Approximately 70% of time is spent in the laboratory testing the performance of products such as disinfectants, medical devices, and cosmetics, as well as assisting with general laboratory operations. Approximately 25% of time is spent doing desk work, typically setting up studies with clients and writing reports. Approximately 5% of time is spent doing a wide variety of tasks that a small sized company needs.

About the Interview Process:
A proficiency test may be given for technical microbiology knowledge and laboratory math.

Lab Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some overtime and weekends, as needed.

Required Qualifications:
B.S. in a Biological Science (Proof of Graduation Required if Hired).
Good technical knowledge of microbiology theory and practice.
Ability to be a self-starter and work cooperatively with others in a small-company environment.
Ability to provide excellent, consistent customer service.

Desired Qualifications:
B.S. in Microbiology.
Experience testing disinfectants or other antimicrobial agents.
Experience performing preservative efficacy tests.
Prior experience working in a commercial testing lab.
Deep technical knowledge of microbiology theory and practice.
Knowledge of, and experience with EPA/FDA Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations.
Experience in the safe handling of pathogenic microorganisms.
Proficiency in Libre Office, especially Calc.

Major Duties:
Independently conduct standard antimicrobial efficacy and microbiological quality assessment studies on consumer products.
Independently conduct medical device cleaning and disinfection validation studies.
Prepare microbiological media and supplies.
Handle and maintain microbial cultures.
Wash and sterilize laboratory glassware and plasticware used in studies.
Interact directly with customers via phone, email and in person.
Prepare, complete and review experimental datasheets and reports.
Assist with basic laboratory needs, such as cleaning, organization, or equipment validation.
Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Maintain and improve lab documents and record keeping procedures.
Assist with sales and marketing efforts as needed.
Interact with and provide detailed and accurate information to Accounting personnel.
Maintain a safe, fast-paced, and positive laboratory environment.

Excellent, Comprehensive Compensation and Benefits:
Pay for entry-level Associate Analysts is $35,000 per year. Most make $37,500 per year after 1 year. Experienced candidate's compensation commensurate with experience and skills.
